The price of taking a taxi in Buenos Aires is set to rise from Thursday of this week, as a 10% increase in fares comes into effect.
The Buenos Aires City government has approved plans in agreement with taxi business, to allow taxi meters to begin at 10 pesos during the day, rising from the previous starting fare of AR$9.10. The fare will then go up in increments of AR$1, which was previously set at AR$0.90.
Night-time fares will now start at 12 pesos, rising from a previous price of 11 pesos and will increase in increments of AR$1.20.
Taxi fares are set to have a further increase in October this year, meaning that there is a total rise of 21% in taxi fares across 2013 in Buenos Aires.
