Facundo Pieres, the 10-goal Argentine polo superstar was seen at Wimbledon today cheering on Argentine tennis star Juan Del Potro.
After falling in his first game at Wimbledon and injuring his knee last week, Argentine tennis player Juan Martin Del Potro produced an incredible performance on Centre Court today with a straight sets 6-2 6-4 7-6 win over David Ferrer to book his place in the semi-finals.
Even after falling badly again on his knee in this match, his rose gingerly after a nine-minute interruption where he was seen by a doctor. He then used his skill and ultimate determination to not let his injury affect his game and went on to win in spectacular fashion in straight sets.
Afterwards he revealed he had been on the verge of retiring. “The doctors said they couldn’t do any more with the knee. I had very light tape and that allowed me to move a little bit but nothing more, and I took some anti-inflammatories to continue playing, but it was really painful at the beginning of the match.
“Bad things came to my mind but I tried to be positive. I was lucky. I did everything good.”
