One of the greatest natural wonders of the world, Iguazu Falls are a must-see for any visit to South America.

Iguazu Falls are waterfalls of the Iguazu River on the border of the Brazilian state of Parana and Argentine province of Misiones. The falls divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu. They are among the world’s most spectacular waterfalls.

Where are they?
They are located on the north-east tip of Argentina, on the border with Brazil.

The falls were recently voted the seventh natural wonder of the world and are a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Did you know?
The name Iguazu comes from two local words meaning “big” and “water.” The park consists of 275 separate falls along 1.7 miles of river – two thirds of which are in Argentina.

Random fact:
The falls have been featured as a location in many movies, including The Mission (1986), Miami Vice (2006), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

Why go?
Check out the amazing views along the boardwalks, walkways and nature trails. Boat and 4×4 excursions are also available to get closer to the Falls. Best times to go: May is usually a good month as its in the rainy season so you will see the Falls in full force. Easter and July are usually very busy months.

Take me there:
The falls on the Argentine side has superior views. You can fly from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu (a few miles from the falls on the Argentine side, and  a better and less busy base than the Brazilian side, Foz do Iguacu). Look South Tours offer english-speaking driver transfers from the Puerto Iguazu airport to your hotel in Puerto Iguazu, email us for rates.
