MercoPress has reported that the Chilean company Lan Airlines said on Saturday it was “gradually resuming” domestic and international flights in Argentina that it had suspended on Friday due a debt conflict with a state-run Intercargo company.
Intercargo manages services for loading and unloading luggage on airplanes, transportation of passengers by buses to and from the planes and terminals and provides the jet bridge services that connect aircraft to airport. Spokespeople at Intercargo have said that they have resumed their services for Lan after agreement by Lan to pay its outstanding debt.
The first flights of Lan since the boycott began Friday, departed on Saturday at 8am from Buenos Aires. Some flights were rescheduled and the company said it was keeping passengers informed of the situation through its website and a customer services phone number. Lan said Friday’s suspension of all its flights to and from Argentina was the result of the halt in services by Intercargo.
